Basic formula
- Weekly hours × 52 ÷ 12 = average monthly hours.
- Monthly salary ÷ average monthly hours = gross hourly wage.
Worked example
- Monthly salary: €3,200 gross
- Weekly time: 40 hours
- Average monthly time: 173.33 hours
- €3,200 ÷ 173.33 = about €18.46 gross per hour.
Converting annual salary
- Divide annual salary by twelve first, then use the same formula.
- Include regular bonuses only when you intentionally want an expanded comparison.
Limits
- Allowances, overtime, bonuses and unpaid absences are not added automatically.
- The result is not a net wage and excludes taxes and contributions.
